Wedding concierge: your dog at your Cape Ann wedding

Cape Ann weddings happen on lawns above the harbor, in old barns and on granite terraces, and a lot of couples want the dog in the photographs. The dog also needs feeding, walking, cooling down and a quiet place to be at 9 PM. That second list is what the concierge exists for.

What it is

What the wedding concierge does: the details, so the dog can be there

The concierge is simple in intent. You want your dog present for the moments that matter, and you do not want to be the one holding the leash while you get married. Dogtown handles the details so your dog can be there for the special moments and looked after in between. Tell us the date and the venue, and we work out the rest with you: what the day looks like, where the dog needs to be and when, and who from our team is with the dog.

Everything is planned around your dog's temperament rather than a template. A dog who already comes to daycare is known to us, which makes the day easier; a dog we have not met is welcome too, and a free evaluation (weekdays, 6:30 to 9:30 AM) is the natural first meeting if the plan includes daycare or an overnight stay around the wedding. Grooming before the day needs no evaluation at all.

Planning

The questions we will ask you before the day

A wedding plan for a dog is a list of logistics, and we will ask for all of them: the ceremony time, where the dog enters and exits, whether the dog is in the procession, the photographs or only the cocktail hour, how the dog travels to the venue and back, and where the dog sleeps that night. We also ask about the dog itself: recall, crowds, other dogs, heat and noise, and anything your vet has said matters.

Cape Ann adds its own items. A June to September wedding means Rockport's beaches are closed to dogs (June 1 to September 15) and Gloucester's until October 1, so a beach photograph with the dog needs a date or a location that allows it. Late-June and early-July dates sit next to St. Peter's Fiesta and the July 3 fireworks in Gloucester, and Labor Day weekend is the Schooner Festival. Traffic and noise on those weekends change how a dog is moved and where it rests.

  • Date, venue, ceremony time and the dog's role: procession, photographs or cocktail hour
  • Transport to and from the venue, and where the dog sleeps that night
  • Recall, crowd tolerance, heat, noise and any guidance from your vet
  • Beach rules and festival weekends on the date you have chosen

On the day

On the day: the groom before, the moments during, the quiet after

The visible part is the groom. A full-service groom the day before is $75 for a dog up to 25 pounds, $85 to 50 pounds, $110 to 90 pounds and $120 over 90 pounds, covering the bath and the cut; a bath only is $55 to $95 by size. The add-ons that show in photographs: face trim $10, nail clipping $16, teeth brushing $10, whitening shampoo $8 for a white or light coat, sanitary trim $10. Book it online or in the Dogtown app.

The rest of the day is the part you agreed with us in planning: when the dog appears, who is with the dog, and where the dog goes when the speeches start. For the nights around the wedding, an overnight suite is $78 a night with playgroups by day and 24/7 monitoring, and the Deluxe bundle (+$15) adds the memory-foam bed. Daycare on the rehearsal or brunch day is $42, with the Pup Van at $10 each way in Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea.

Price

Pricing is on request, and the fixed prices around it are public

The concierge itself is priced on request, because a dog in the procession at a 2 PM ceremony in Rockport and a dog who appears for twenty minutes of photographs on a Gloucester harbor lawn are different days for our team. Send the date and venue and we quote it. Nothing else is hidden: grooming, daycare, overnight stays, enrichment and the Pup Van are all at the prices on this site.

If you are marrying on Cape Ann but live elsewhere, the evaluation still has to happen on a weekday morning between 6:30 and 9:30 AM before any daycare or overnight stay, so build a visit to Eastern Ave into the weeks before the wedding, or plan on grooming only, which needs none. Grooming books online or in the Dogtown app without a visit beforehand.

  • Concierge: price on request, quoted from the date and venue
  • Groom before: $75 to $120 full service, no evaluation
  • Suite $78 a night, daycare $42, Pup Van $10 each way
  • Out-of-town couples: evaluation on a weekday morning before the wedding week

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this

Short, complete answers you can act on today. More in the full FAQ.

How do I book the wedding concierge?
Send the contact form with the date, the venue and your dog's name, or call 978 491-5922. We come back with the planning questions, talk it through with you and quote the price for that plan. Book the groom and, if you need it, the free evaluation for daycare or an overnight stay as soon as the date is fixed.
How much does the wedding concierge cost?
It is priced on request once we know the date, the venue and how much of the day your dog is part of. The fixed pieces around it are public: a full-service groom is $75 to $120 by size, a bath $55 to $95, daycare $42 a day, an overnight suite $78 a night, and the Pup Van $10 each way in the four Cape Ann towns.
Can my dog be in the ceremony?
That is your call and the venue's, and it is one of the first questions we ask. Tell us whether you picture the dog in the procession, in the photographs or only at the cocktail hour, and we plan the handling around it. A dog who does not enjoy crowds or noise can still be part of the photographs and then rest with our team.
Where does my dog stay the night of the wedding?
Wherever the plan says. Many couples book an overnight suite at Dogtown ($78 a night, 24/7 monitoring, playgroups by day) for the night before and the wedding night, so the dog leaves us groomed and stays with us while you travel. Overnight stays need a free evaluation first, on a weekday between 6:30 and 9:30 AM.
Do you need to have met my dog before the wedding?
For the concierge we plan around the dog, so meeting beforehand is the sensible route, and if the plan includes daycare or an overnight stay the free evaluation is required in any case. Grooming alone does not need one. Summer dates fill, so contact us as early as you can with the date and the venue.
