Dog grooming prices in Gloucester: baths $55 to $95, full service $75 to $120
Grooming quotes are hard to compare because every studio bands weight and coat differently. Here is our full list, the reasons a final price can differ from the band you expected, and a way to decide between a bath and a full groom by breed and season rather than by habit.

Two services, five weight bands. The bath is the maintenance visit: warm bath, blow-dry and a brush-out. The full service is a bath plus a haircut to the breed standard or to a photo you bring. Weight sets the band because a 90-pound Bernese takes longer to dry than a 20-pound Cavalier, and the extra-large long-hair bath at $95 exists for that dog.
Add-ons are flat fees. Nail clipping $16, teeth brushing $10, face trim $10, sanitary trim $10, antiseptic or fungal shampoo $8, whitening $8, Shed Release $10, anal glands express $40, dematting $15 per 20 minutes, and a behavior or handling surcharge of $20 when a dog needs a second pair of hands or a slower pace. What changes the price
Coat condition, not just weight, decides the final number at check-in
The final price is confirmed at check-in after a coat assessment, and mats are the usual reason it moves. Dematting is $15 per 20 minutes, so a doodle who has gone three months between brushes can add an hour of careful work to the full-service price. Our groomers will tell you before they start, and will recommend a shorter clip when that is the kinder option for the dog.
Behavior is the second factor. The $20 handling surcharge applies when a dog needs slower handling, more breaks or two groomers; it is a time charge, not a judgment. Puppies on a first groom and rescues who have never met a dryer are the dogs it usually covers, and many need it only for the first visit or two, once the room is familiar.
Discounts come from the rest of the building. Unlimited daycare members take 15 percent off grooming, overnight guests on the Deluxe bundle take 15 percent and those on the Classic take 10 percent, and anyone who rebooks at the counter saves $5. Booking the groom during a daycare day or before an overnight pick-up does not change the grooming price, but it saves the second trip down Eastern Ave.

Which to choose
Bath for the double coats, full service for the coats that keep growing
Labs, Goldens, huskies, shepherds and the hound mixes that fill Gloucester's yards do not need haircuts; they need the undercoat out. For them the bath is the right service, with Shed Release at $10 added in spring and fall when the coat lets go. A 70-pound Golden comes to $85 for that pairing. How often to repeat it depends on the coat, and our groomers will suggest an interval at pick-up.
Doodles, poodles, Shih Tzus, Cockers and any coat that keeps growing need the full service, because a bath alone leaves the length and the mats behind. A medium doodle is $85 for the full groom, and a face trim at $10 between full grooms keeps the eyes clear for far less than an extra haircut. Bring a photo of the cut you want; our groomers work to it.
Puppies and nervous dogs should start with a bath and a nail trim, $55 plus $16 for a small dog, so the table, the tub and the dryer are learned before scissors appear. Seniors often do best with a bath plus a $10 sanitary trim rather than a full clip, because it is shorter on the table. Book online or in the app; there is no evaluation for grooming, so the first appointment can be this week.

Cape Ann factors

Cape Ann dogs get dirtier than most. From October 1 to April 30 Gloucester's beaches are open to dogs at the time of writing, Good Harbor on even-numbered days and Wingaersheek on odd, and a winter of salt water and wet sand does more to a coat than a summer of lawns. Rockport's beaches reopen to dogs after September 15. Our bath bookings climb in the off-season, and a Shed Release in March pairs well with the first warm week.
Tick season runs roughly April to November here, and a groomer's hands find what a quick pat misses. If our team finds ticks during a groom we tell you at pick-up; prevention is a question for your vet. Essex marsh mud and the trails at Ravenswood Park and Dogtown Common are the other regular reasons a dog arrives for an unscheduled bath.
The studio is inside the building at 210 Eastern Ave, so a groom can happen during a daycare day or on the last morning of an overnight stay with a single drop-off. When the groom is attached to a daycare day, the Pup Van can do the driving for $10 each way from Rockport, Gloucester, Essex and Manchester-by-the-Sea.
